Rapid increase in world population + decline in freshwater resources + mismanagement and waste of water + uncontrolled pollution = threat to the survival of humanity on earth. Isn't it imperative that we take serious action if we are to prolong human life on this planet? Let's start small - directly from our own household. 1. Repair drip taps The bathroom is the place with the highest water consumption in the house. Leak water 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Did you know that a leaky faucet can waste enough water to fill a bathtub every week, almost 32 liters / day? Kids Corner - 5 Things that are Green

leaf

  • A leaf is a flat, thin plant organ.
  • The leaves are colored green by a pigment called chlorophyll.
  • Chlorophyll absorbs energy from sunlight and produces food for the plant through a process called photosynthesis.
  • During this process, oxygen is released. We use this oxygen to breathe.
  • Veins in a leaf carry water and food to and from the leaves.

Peas

  • They are small, round vegetables.
  • They are among the oldest plants in the world.
  • They're high in protein and full of vitamins. Green peas are good for kids as they make bones stronger.
  • Peas belong to the legume family because they have peas (seeds) that grow in pea pods (fruits).
  • Pea plants work with bacteria in the soil to “bind” nitrogen from the air and store it in the soil, making the soil fertile.

Capsicum

  • It is originally from America and has been around since 6000 BC. Used for cooking.
  • Most types of Capsicum contain capsaicin, which can cause a severe stinging sensation in the mouth.
  • They are an excellent source of vitamins A and C. Good in fiber and folic acid.
  • In India the variety of peppers is called paprika. It is available in its unripe green state and in its red (sweet), yellow (mild taste) or orange (sweet and crispy) ripe state.
  • If you cut a purple / black pepper, the inside will be colored green.

frog

  • Frogs are amphibians that can live in the water or on land.
  • Frogs are similar to toads. A frog has smooth, moist skin, large, plump eyes, and long legs. A toad has rough skin and shorter legs.
  • Frogs mostly spend their lives in the water, while toads prefer land.
  • Frogs have rear feet that help them swim and are very good at jumping.
  • Frogs usually lay their eggs in water and these hatch into tadpoles.

crocodile

  • The crocodile is a reptile that belongs to the alligator family.
  • It can survive both on land and underwater. They move faster underwater than on land.
  • They usually have 80 different types of teeth, sharp, pointy teeth to make the meat easy to bite. But they are not made to be chewed, so they swallow their prey whole. The crocodiles eat the flesh of people, birds, animals and marine animals.
  • They are usually found near large bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and seas.
